"We've seen a pretty awesome surge among youth in the last four months or so visiting our site and wanting to be a part of what we're doing here and it hasn't quit," Do Good. Be Great. Leader and Host of the new SELFIE Radio Show, Wade Heath told the DGBG Blog this week.
"So naturally we want to grow our brand to better accommodate this demographic and give them something they can share with their friends," Wade added, sitting in front of the radio microphone he uses for the show. "It's heavy on music, silly at times, supports the mission of Do Good. Be Great., and moves at a much faster speed than the (WadeWire Radio Show)," he said of the major differences between SELFIE Radio and the other DGBG Radio program he hosts, The WadeWire.
"The WadeWire speaks more to the older demographic that originally helped launch DoGoodBeGreat.com and our Facebook. They're still very much with us, and we love them, but we saw another opportunity to reach a bigger audience and that's why SELFIE Radio is happening," Wade shared with the DGBG Blog. "Tweens and Teens rock, and I am freaking thrilled that they are enjoying what it is we're trying to do here. After all, they are the generation that will change the future and if we can help support them in any way, we're glad to be here for them."
A major cornerstone of the new radio program is its reliance on listener interaction, more specifically, its almost constant suggestion (it is in the name, after all) that listeners and fans aim their selfie at the show's Instagram profile.
"We want our young audience to stand out and be counted as a force for good. We figured, what better way to be proud of who you are than by literally showing who you are?" Wade said of the image-driven program. "It's a show that really tries to emphasize how important the individual is and how every person listening can be their own role model, so why not be proud of who you are?"
The SELFIE Radio Show debuts this week On-Demand and a new episode is slated each Monday.
